PRESS: Russia to slap retaliatory sanctions against Ukraine

MOSCOW, Jul 19 (PRIME) -- The Russian government is developing sanctions against Ukraine, which may affect several hundreds of personal and corporate bodies, Kommersant business daily reported Thursday citing government sources.

The sanctions may affect large businessmen and officials and could include blocking of their assets in Russia and a ban on capital withdrawal, the daily said.

The list of corporate bodies is being prepared by the Economic Development Ministry, the Industry and Trade Ministry, and the Finance Ministry. The bodies are expected to submit by August 1 proposals on goods that are imported from Ukraine and could fall under the new sanctions.

Russia’s sanctions will be a “mirror-like response” to similar steps from Ukraine, which currently has 1,748 individuals and 756 corporate bodies in its sanctions lists, mostly from Russia.

One of the sources said that the new sanctions may first of all affect mineral fertilizer producers.
